Welcome to our master bathroom glow-up — where spa vibes meet smart design, all without draining the bank account.
What started as a cramped, outdated space is now a wide-open wet room that feels luxe, laid-back, and 100% me. And yes — we did it with a lot of DIY, some savvy shopping, and more than a few CAD layout redraws (okay, four or five, to be exact).

🚿 Wet Room Wonders: Function Meets Freedom
The heart of the redesign? The wet room. It’s sleek, simple, and oh-so-functional.
No more stepping out of the tub and onto a soggy bath mat. No glass panels to squeegee. No sad, clingy shower curtains. Just a clean, open space that feels like stepping into your own private spa.
I obsessed over this layout until every inch worked just right.
Pro Tip: A well-designed wet room isn’t just gorgeous — it’s a space-saver too.

✔️ Pros of My Wet Room
🚫 No glass to clean
🚫 No curtain to fuss with
✅ Smart use of space
✅ A cool pony wall shelf (way more stylish than a shampoo niche)
✅ Room for plants (my palm gives me tropical vacay energy every time I shower)
🙃 The One Con
Without a door or glass divider, water can spray into the rest of the bathroom if your shower head isn't aimed just right. But honestly? With a well-placed fixture and tile everywhere, it’s a non-issue. Especially if your kid wants to do cannonballs in the soaker tub. You just wipe it up like normal.

🛁 Design That Packs a Punch
Let’s talk finishes — because this space didn’t come to play:

Cabinets: Ebony-stained alder
Countertops: Quartz (gorgeous and tough)
Tile: Pebble stone for that subtle spa texture
Hardware: Champagne bronze with accents of green
Faucets: Matte black (because balance, baby)
The vanity is now my happy place, complete with a mirror that looks like an art installation. Every element adds up to a clean, modern-meets-natural aesthetic with a touch of glam.
All the luxe — none of the label shock. Our countertops were a total steal from a stone supplier we trust...check the remnants in stock!

🔨 DIY: Getting Our Hands Dirty
We didn’t do everything ourselves — we left waterproofing to the pros (smart move). But the tile? The grout? That was all us. And yeah… it was a challenge. But also a win.
I even gave an old makeup bench a glow-up:Spray-painted the base to match our champagne bronze theme and reupholstered the cushion in velvet fabric that pulled in every color from the space. Boom — brand-new vibes with zero new purchases.
🛍️ Home Depot & Amazon Finds: Budget Luxe
Believe it or not, some of the biggest impact pieces came from good ol’ Home Depot and Amazon.
From Home Depot:
That dreamy soaking tub
All the tile magic
Cabinet Stain Color: Varathane Ebony
From Amazon:
Matte black & brass lighting
Brushed antique brass oval mirror (yes, the one everyone asks about)
Champagne bronze cabinet pulls & even the glam gold toilet paper holder 🙌
Amazon was our go-to for lighting. Functional? Yes. Boring? No way. These lights bring a vibe that's just right. Matte black with a tough of brass — modern done right. And that chic brushed antique brass oval mirror? Yup, another amazing Amazon find — along with the champagne bronze cabinet pulls and gold toilet paper holder.
Designer look, big-box price. No gatekeeping here.

🚪 Our Handcrafted Statement Piece: The Barn Door
And finally — the showstopper. Our custom louvre-style barn door, built by my dad (with a little help from me 😉).
Made of basswood and finished with nothing but clear lacquer, it brings warmth and texture to the space while letting the natural beauty of the wood shine. It’s functional and totally unique — exactly how we like it.
Amazon for the win!
Final Thoughts
This bathroom is more than just a renovation — it’s a reflection of my style, my grit, and my belief that great design doesn’t have to cost a fortune.
Whether you’re dreaming of your own wet room or just looking to refresh a dated space, I hope this gives you the inspiration (and the confidence!) to go for it.
Let me know what you think — and feel free to steal a few ideas 😉
