In this blog, I will guide you through the process of creating a breathtaking painting with a mesmerizing water and sand background. This artistic concept incorporates a range of techniques to achieve texture and dimension. Now, let's dive into the steps!

Step 1: Base Coat
To begin, apply a base layer of acrylic paint in different shades of blue to form the foundation for your water background. Use broad brushstrokes to mimic the graceful flow of water on the canvas.
Step 2: Adding Texture to the Sand
Add texture to the sand by trying household items like granulated sugar and gold cookie sprinkles. Feel free to experiment with different materials to find what works best for you. Personally, I found that using granulated sugar gave me the sandy texture I was looking for. Just sprinkle the sugar onto the wet paint and gently press it in with your brush or fingertips. Make sure to let it dry completely.
Step 3: Adding Textured Waves
To create white textured waves, I opted for textured plaster because I had some leftover from a different project. You can apply the plaster using a palette knife, focusing on areas where the water meets the sand. Play around with varying thickness and direction of the waves to achieve a more dynamic and realistic appearance.
Step 4: Final Touches
Alright, so now that you've got your base all set up, it's time to really nail down those little details. You can add some depth to the waves by using lighter and darker shades of white for highlights and shadows. And don't forget about the foam and spray! You can use a small brush to create those effects along the tops of the waves. So go ahead and give it a try and see how your painting comes out!
So, while you're painting, don't forget to take a break every now and then to check on how it's going. Feel free to try different things and adjust these techniques based on your own artistic flair.
Step 5: Build a Frame
So, I tried making a "floating frame" for the first time. It didn't turn out perfect, but I'll definitely use better and thicker wood next time to make it smoother.

But you know what? The textured beach painting looks great and adds more calm and serenity into my master bathroom!
