Creating a Butterfly Flower Garden with your Kids!

Updated: 4 days ago

Let me tell you, creating a butterfly flower garden with my daughter Ava was an absolute blast! I can't wait to do it again this summer. It’s not just about planting flowers; it’s a fun-filled adventure that brings us closer while we soak up the beauty of nature. 🌼🦋

Choosing Our Butterfly Buddies

First things first, we dive into a little brainstorming session about which flowers are butterfly magnets. We chat about cool options like milkweed, coneflowers, and zinnias. Ava and I pick a mix of bright, cheerful blooms that not only attract butterflies but also turn our garden into a colorful wonderland!

Finding the Perfect Spot

Next, we scout for the ideal spot in our backyard. We’re on the lookout for a sunny area that gets plenty of light because, let’s be real, butterflies love to soak up the sun! Together, we laid down newspaper to block out the grass and weeds, then poured soil and compost on top.

Planting Party!

With the soil all prepped, it’s time to get our hands dirty! We lay out the flowers in a fun arrangement, chatting about which colors and heights look best together. Ava is super excited to plant the seeds and bulbs, and she carefully places them in the ground while I guide her on how deep to go.

Let’s Make Your Garden a Butterfly Paradise!

Want to give butterflies a refreshing drink while adding some pizzazz to your garden? Say hello to a solar water fountain! 🌞💧 We got our solar fountain from Amazon.

Why you’ll love it:

  • Hydration Station: Butterflies need water too! This fountain keeps them hydrated and happy.

  • Nature’s Music: The gentle sounds of flowing water will serenade you and your fluttery friends.

  • No More Stagnation: Keep that water fresh and flowing—goodbye, mosquito hangouts!

  • Pollinator Party: Create a mini-ecosystem that attracts not just butterflies, but bees and other friendly critters.

  • Garden Glow-Up: Let’s face it, a shimmering fountain makes everything look a little more magical!

So, get ready to transform your garden into a vibrant habitat that supports butterfly well-being and brings a smile to your face. Who knew being eco-friendly could be this fun? 🦋✨

Memories in the Making

All in all, creating this butterfly flower garden with Ava has been a journey filled with laughter, learning, and a whole lot of fun. It’s given us countless opportunities to explore the wonders of the natural world together and deepened our appreciation for the beauty around us. Every visit to our garden is a cherished memory, filled with giggles and joy as we watch the butterflies flit from flower to flower, reminding us of all our hard work and love. 🌸❤️
